DO I
HAVE TO PAY SALES TAX?
The
State of Tennessee titles ATVs and Dirt Motorcycles just like Street Motorcycles
and Automobiles. Therefore, if you are a resident of the State of
Tennessee, you must pay sales tax. Otherwise, you will not be able to
obtain a title. Also, we are required by law to collect the sales tax from
you.
Georgia and Alabama do not title ATVs or Dirt motorcycles. If you are a
resident of Georgia or Alabama, we are not required to collect sales tax from
you. Even if you purchase a street motorcycle. However, when you go
to get a tag and title for your street motorcycle, you will have to pay sales
tax at that time. Often, when purchasing a street motorcycle, the finance
company will require sales tax to be collected to facilitate filing for a title.
Thank
you for the explanation, but I don't live in Tennessee, Georgia or Alabama.
Will you collect sales tax from me? We will not!
Unless, your state titles the product AND you are financing AND the finance
company requires a title to be filed. You can likely google search for
your state to determine if ATVs or Dirt Motorcycles are titled.
