If you maintain a farm, your UTV can be a valuable resource. Take advantage of your powersports vehicle's power, speed, and hauling ability by using it to cross more chores off of your to-do list. UTVs can quickly traverse challenging terrain, making it a much better option than walking or driving a commuter car around your property.

We gathered up our favorite ways to use a UTV on a farm below. If you have any questions or want to shop UTVs for sale, chat with the experts at Battle Creek Powersports. Our dealership is located in Jasper, Tennessee, and we also proudly serve those in Chattanooga and East Ridge.

1. Prepare Fields For Planting

Soil is often not ready "as-is" for the crops. It is often too hard and firm, needing to be broken up before it can house life. Add a disc harrow or drag harrow attachment to your UTV, then plow through the tough ground. The soil will be ready for planting in no time!

2. Quickly Plant Crops

It's no big secret that crop planting is time-consuming and tedious work. Using your UTV can speed up the process. Connect a spreader attachment to your side-by-side, then quickly and evenly distribute seeds. You can use the same UTV attachment to then evenly distribute fertilizer.

3. Trim Back Grass And Weeds

Maybe your front lawn is looking a bit overgrown. Maybe there's a stubborn patch of weeds growing too proudly tall. Either way, your side-by-side can whip those areas into shape. Add a mower deck or pull-behind mower to your UTV. Then let your side-by-side cut the vegetation to your ideal shape.

If you are using your UTV on your lawn, you may want to swap out the tires first. Standard powersports tires can be a bit much for delicate grass. Thankfully, there are lawn-friendly tires you can purchase.

4. Build A Fence

Fences are a staple on a farm, from keeping livestock corralled to a given area to keeping wild animals out of your garden. Use your UTV to build a fence in no time. A rear-mounted wire unroller helps quickly unwind any wire. If you need to remove an existing fence, your side-by-side's winch can yank the old posts out. There are even side-by-side attachments for digging holes for the posts to rest in.

5. Clear Away Debris

Cleaning up debris by hand is tedious. With a rake attachment, your UTV can clean up leaves, brush, and any other debris. Once the debris is collected, load it up in your side-by-side's storage space and drive it over to your burn pile.

6. Tend And Mend Paths

Paths, driveways, and trails are often scattered about a farm. When they are made from dirt or gravel, they can erode over time. Pair your UTV with a front-mounted blade attachment to efficiently reshape or reform the path.

7. Deliver Feed To Your Livestock

If your farm includes livestock, make feeding time more efficient with your side-by-side. Load up the feed into the UTV's storage space, cruise over to the barn, then unload it. This is much faster than walking it over and more fuel efficient than carrying it over with your pickup truck.
